J.A. Konrath and Blake Crouch, Author of “Stirred”

Welcome, Blake and Joe. It’s nice of you to stop by to talk about your book. What is it about?

Lt. Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels has seen humanity at its most depraved and terrifying. She’s lost loved ones. Come close to death countless times. But she always manages to triumph over evil. Luther Kite is humanity at its most depraved and terrifying. He’s committed unthinkable acts. Taken human life for the sheer pleasure of it. He is a monster among monsters, and no one has ever caught him. Each is the best at what they do. Peerless. Unmatched.

Until now…

In Luther’s experience, people are weak. Even the strong and fearless break too easily. He wants a challenge, and sets his depraved sights on Jack. But with a baby on the way, Jack is at her most vulnerable. She’s always been a fighter, but she’s never had so much to fight for. So he’s built something especially for Jack. His own, private ninth circle of hell, a nightmare world in a forgotten place, from which no one has ever escaped.

It’s J.A. Konrath’s greatest heroine versus Blake Crouch’s greatest villain in Stirred, the stunning conclusion to both Konrath’s Lt. Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels thriller series and Crouch’s Andrew Z. Thomas series.

Only one can survive. And it won’t be whom you think.

How long had the idea of your book been developing before you began to write the story?

Because Stirred is the conclusion to both of our series, we’ve truly been working toward this book for a decade.

What inspired you to write this particular story?

We had worked together on other projects and had a lot of fun and a lot of success. One of us had the idea to conclude both our series in a single, standalone book.

Who is your most unusual/most likeable character?

Probably Harry McGlade. He’s so unusual because despite the fact that he’s a total asshole to everyone in his life, somehow he manages to still be likeable, and a reader favorite.

How long did it take you to write your book?

We started talking about writing Stirred summer 2010. Strangely enough, it was on Christmas Day last year when we were having a conversation about Stirred, and a lot of it came together. We started actually putting words on paper in May of 2011, and we finished the manuscript in August.

Thanks for stopping by. Where can people find out more about your book?

Clicking on the cover at the top of this interview will take you to the Amazon book page. Thanks, Pat!
